Two Pence Market, Coming to Milton

A new neighborhood gathering place is on the horizon in Milton, courtesy of the team behind Steel & Rye. Slated to open this summer at 2 Eliot Street, Two Pence Market will transform a long-vacant historic bank building into a vibrant, all-day destination for coffee, casual meals, curated retail and community connection.

The project comes from restaurateur Dan Kerrigan and co-owner and culinary director Brendan Joy, whose work at Steel & Rye and its sister restaurant, Prairie Fire, has long emphasized thoughtful, ingredient-driven cooking in welcoming, neighborhood-focused spaces. Partnering with local developer JD Wild of The ELEVATED Companies, the team is bringing that same ethos to a new kind of concept, one designed to meet guests throughout the day.

At Two Pence, the menu will center on house-made, quick-service fare including bagels, grain bowls, salads and smoothies alongside locally roasted coffee, farm-fresh produce and pasture-raised proteins. The original bank vault will be repurposed as a retail shop featuring a curated selection of wine and spirits, while a walk-up window will offer easy access to takeout, ice cream and seasonal treats. Inside, guests can expect a mix of cozy and communal seating, plus a fireplace, while outside, two patios (one has a pergola!) invite lingering in warmer months.

Executive chef Alison Hearn will oversee the culinary program alongside Joy, bringing a day-to-day rhythm to a space designed to feel both polished and approachable. More than a market, the team envisions Two Pence as a modern town square, an easygoing place to grab a coffee, pick up dinner provisions or settle in for a casual meal with neighbors.

Additional details, including opening date, hours and menus, are expected in the coming weeks so check back or keep an eye on their IG for info and updates
